Rifle Bench Rest: .22 Calibre
NSRG's .22 Rimfire Benchrest program is held on the fourth Thursday of each month. Setup begins at 9:00 a.m., with shooting commencing at 9:30 a.m. The course of fire alternates monthly between 50-yard and 100-yard targets. Each match consists of 50 rounds, challenging participants to achieve the highest level of precision and consistency from the benchrest position. Shooters of all skill levels are welcome to participate. Centre Fire BenchrestThe Centre Fire Benchrest program is currently suspended. Please check the club schedule or contact the discipline coordinator for updates regarding future events. Silhouette ShootingNSRG hosts both .22 calibre rifle and .22 calibre handgun silhouette matches. While friendly competition is encouraged, these events are primarily intended to be enjoyable and welcoming for shooters of all experience levels. Silhouette shooting challenges participants to engage steel animal-shaped targets at various distances. A standard target set consists of:
Competitors fire one shot at each silhouette. To score a hit, the target must be knocked completely off its stand. A perfect score for a round is 20. These matches provide an excellent opportunity to develop marksmanship skills while enjoying a unique and entertaining shooting discipline. Handgun silhouette matches are typically held in Bay 3, while rifle silhouette matches are generally conducted in Bay 1. Participants should consult the club schedule for specific event dates and any range assignment changes. .22 Cal Rifle Silhouette
Rifle SilhouetteIn rifle silhouette competition, steel animal-shaped targets are placed at distances of 40, 60, 77, and 100 yards. Competitors shoot from the standing position, engaging chickens, pigs, turkeys, and rams in a test of balance, concentration, and marksmanship. A medium-weight .22 calibre rimfire rifle equipped with a low-power optical sight is generally well suited for this discipline, although a wide variety of rifles may be used. One of the attractions of silhouette shooting is its simplicity—no specialized equipment beyond a suitable rifle and ammunition is required. Whether you are new to the sport or an experienced shooter, silhouette matches offer a fun and challenging way to develop your shooting skills while enjoying friendly competition. 10 Metre Air RifleThe 10 Metre Air Rifle discipline is one of the most popular precision shooting sports in the world and is enjoyed by NSRG members throughout the year. While formal competitions are not currently organized at the club, members regularly practice during the weekly Wednesday air gun sessions and on their own schedule. The event is shot from the standing position using precision air rifle targets at a distance of 10 metres. Although competitive shooters often use specialized compressed-air rifles, iron sights, and dedicated shooting apparel, participants are welcome to use any safe and suitable air rifle. Official targets are available, making it easy for shooters of all experience levels to participate and improve their skills. All 10 Metre Air Rifle activities are conducted on NSRG's heated indoor air gun range, providing a comfortable year-round shooting environment. All are welcome to participate. |
